Nancy Pelosi voices support for 2nd draft of Veteran Healthcare Bill

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) speaks on the House floor about the PACT Act.

“Today’s action would not have been possible if it were not for the tireless advocacy and selflessness of toxic-exposed veterans who shared their stories and advocated for a comprehensive bill like this.

“But unfortunately, I cannot support it. Because the bill spends about $285 billion that we don't have. We have to address the issue in this body of spending money we don't have. And the Chairman said that ‘well, why don't you raise it on other issues?’ I raised it on every single issue. I raised it on a $2 million bill about 30 minutes ago on the floor. At some point we have to pay for the stuff that we're spending or the very things that these veterans sacrifice for will be made completely and utterly worthless.”

On July 9, American Legion Riders Chapter 925 in Norfolk, N.Y., staged their 17th annual motorcycle charity ride. The beneficiary this year was Americans Supporting Armed Services (ASAS) in Potsdam, N.Y., in order to assist the nonprofit’s efforts in advocating for more resources and help for veterans affected by burn pit exposure.

During House Floor remarks on Wednesday, Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-IL) spoke about The Honoring Our PACT Act.
